Upon the collapse of the modern world, the human population had effectively been cut in half as a result of older, magical civilizations remerging. Many of which who had destroyed the vast urban areas that used to occupy these lands.

        The lands themselves had shifted when Halcyon caused Atlantis to resurface, and a destructive magic pulsed from its source triggering certain occurrences throughout the world. Those of which involved the curse from the Vaaken kingdom being lifted, the waking of ancient dragons from their hibernation, and the shifting of earth’s plates as a whole. With this, these civilizations waged war against each other and the humans as they worked to reclaim what they felt was rightfully theirs. Since then, life has become increasingly difficult for humans as they attempt to survive in a landscape controlled by magic.

Now, human populations hide in pockets located all around the world, typically underground or in inaccessible forests, fortresses, and islands.
